A bit about me. Check out some MP3 samples of my music Linton Hale is a composer and music teacher who loves to share music. He plays North Indian bamboo flute, percussion and piano. He grew up in a musical family, studying piano and French horn. He began composing at age 14. At Brown University he studied composition and computer music and became increasingly fascinated with music from around the world. He studied Ghanaian drumming, accompanied West African dance classes and travelled to Senegal, West Africa. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1990, and began studying North Indian bamboo flute. Recently he travelled to Bombay to study Hindustani music with Pandit Raghunath Seth and Pandit Hariprasad Charausia. Currently he is receiving vocal training from Ali Akbar Khansahib at Ali Akbar College in San Rafael, CA. His recent composition "Meeting & Greeting," performed with the trio Tabla Rasa and members of the San Francisco Sinfonietta was very well received. The piece makes direct cross-cultural connections by featuring soloists including drums of India and West Africa, string instruments from Europe and Asia, thumb piano from Zimbabwe and didgeridoo from Australia. He teaches drumming workshops at UC San Francisco, performs for medita- tions and is recording a CD with Dr. Rina Sircar of the California Institute for Integral Studies, and produces events for the Interfaith Network. He is also developing his website www.healthyarts.com to make connections between the arts and community health, and is offering free publicity to selected artists and health practitioners.
